We're into our 5th song and will be posting more in the future but yeah, the USB mic's we had left a lot to be desired, yet I still like the songs. If you want to hear the first two songs we did I got them on youtube. Which works but the interfaces sound waaaaaay better. Our first two songs we had a cheap USB mic. I have an old M-Audio interface with an SM58 and a MXL 990 (which i've not used too much, mostly the 58) My drummer has a 2 channel presonus an SM58 and AKG 2100. We both currently use an interface with different mics. Although I got a friend to do some keyboard playing on the last song. I do all the guitars bass vocals and whatever else.

A larger machine is better.Ī drummer and I are recording into Audacity to create full songs. Garage Band on the iPhone is tougher to use. The powered USB hub is not absolutely critical, but it does make using other USB devices, e.g., a thumb drive, really easy. If you have a mic that requires 48v phantom power, make sure to get a USB interface that provides it-or get a small outboard phantom power unit to drive the mic. Plug your guitar into the POD, run the POD to the USB interface, run the USB interface to the powered USB hub, and run the hub through the camera adapter into your i-device. One thing that makes recording really easy is a modeler like a POD or something similar. That is it.assuming you already have headphones or a small stereo for monitoring. USB audio interface (I use a Behringer UM2, $50) USB camera adapter for hookup to i-device ($8) To record into Garage Band, you need a few simple pieces of equipment in addition to the Mac/iPad/iPhone: I prefer it on the iPad Pro because of the touch screen. And it's dead simple to use once you get the basics under your fingers. It is often thought of as a "toy" but the things you can do with it are right up there with Reaper and other software DAWs.
